What is Alpha GPC

Alpha-GPC also called L-α-Glycerophosphorylcholine is a natural compound of choline that occurs in the brain. It is also an acetylcholine precursor with parasympathomimetic properties, which is being investigated for its potential use in the treatment of brain disorders

Synonyms for Alpha GPC

• Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine
• L-alpha-glycerophosphocholin
• glycerophosphocholine
• L-alpha-glyceryl-phosphorylcholine
• Choline Alphoscerate

Alpha-GPC should not be confused with: Choline, DMAE and CDP-choline

These are different substances, each with unique properties, effects and applications in the body. Here are the main differences between Alpha-GPC and the other substances:

• Alpha GPC is a very efficient choline source that can quickly increase acetylcholine in the brain and is mainly used for cognitive and neurological applications.
• Choline itself is a more widely available nutrient, important for many processes but less directly associated with rapid cognitive effects.
• DMAE has choline-like properties, but acts at a different level and is converted less efficiently to acetylcholine.
• CDP choline supplies both choline and cytidine and has broader neuroprotective properties, with slower and more multifaceted effects than Alpha-GPC.
